Father's Day 2023: Asaba Cleric Calls for Total Submission to God's Directives.

 _By Chidex Onyemah_

The resident priest at the Christ Holy Church International Asaba 2 district, Rev. Pastor Alexander Muo, has called on Christian men across the world to submit themselves totally to the will and directives of God.

He said this while giving his sermon at the Christ Holy Church International Umuonaje-Asaba, on the occasion of the 2023 Father's Day celebration, held on Sunday, June 18, 2023.

Preaching on the 2023 Father's Day theme: "Men of Destiny", the priest cited that God has a plan before forming every man on earth and so, every man should not live a reckless life in other to fulfill destiny.

"God created every man with a plan and goal... To achieve this, every man must live with the word of God and understand that fulfilling destiny involves walking intimately with God, which results in a good prayer life" he said.

Making reference to Samson in the bible, Rev. Muo observed that God prepared him specially to deliver his nation from the humiliations of the Philistines but he derailed from God's will and brought doom to himself.

His words: "One of the easiest ways to fall out of destiny is through the lust of the flesh... Samson would not have failed if he harkened to God's command"

"Joseph knowing fully that he is a man of destiny, stood against the manipulations of Potiphar's wife. Though put in prison due to allegations, he lived a good life and fulfilled his destiny"

Concluding his sermon, Rev. Muo urged men to be careful with friends, not to get carried away with praises. According to him, it is better to be called a fool and achieve destiny than to be praised and not fulfilling destiny. Quoting from Ephesians 1:11, the clergyman encouraged men to understand who and what they are called to accomplish on earth.

In an interview, the Men's Fellowship Chairman, Christ Holy Church International Umuonaje-Asaba,  Amb. Emmanuel Nnaemeka advised men across the globe to remain consistent in living and godly life, worthy of emulation. He called on men to often portray the character of a leader in their respective families, workplaces, and the church.

Nnaemeka hailed the resident priest, Rev. Pastor Alexander Muo, referring to him as a priest to be reckoned with. He also sang the praise of other male ministers at the Umuonaje branch.

"Since I started attending Christ Holy Church till date, I have not met a Pastor as sincere as Rev. Muo, whose teachings are deeply rooted in the holy scriptures. He's a true spiritual father who is always available to render any assistance you need" Nnaemeka said.

False Accusation Attracts Victory - Rev. Alex Muo

By Chidex Onyemah

The resident priest at the Christ Holy Church International Umuonaje-Asaba, Rev. Alexander Muo, has reiterated that false accusation attracts victory and that there is always a lesson to be learned in every trying time.

He said this while giving his sermon at the church cathedral on Sunday, March 19, 2023, on the occasion of the international youth thanksgiving across all branches of Christ Holy Church International.

The Clergyman warned believers not to allow human judgements and criticisms to lead them to anxiety and depression, especially when they are sure that they are not guilty of those accusations.

"You should not allow the things people say behind your back, demoralize you, or cause you to overthink. What you have to do, is to work on yourself and ensure you are growing both in your relationship with God and your career" he said.

Rev. Muo also added that failures and disappointments are part of life. He challenged Christians to have faith that they are born to change the stories of their generation.

His words: "do not let your family background or whatever you are currently passing through make you feel that God doesn't love you... Sometimes, problems come to us for us to learn and grow... You must avoid worry, especially in times of hunger, persecution, and disappointments."

Quoting from Matthew 6:25, he concluded by encouraging believers to keep trusting God for all needs and not worry themselves over material things.

Founder's Day 2023: Asaba Cleric Decries Sinful Living

 _By Chidex Onyemah_

The resident priest at the Christ Holy Church International Asaba 2, Rev. Pastor Alexander Muo, has urged Christians across the globe to ensure to live a blameless life, especially in these trying times when countries are faced with several challenges. This according to him is the only way to see God and receive his blessings.

He said this while giving his sermon at the Founder's Day service held at the Christ Holy Church International Umuonaje-Asaba branch on Sunday, March 11, 2023.

Speaking on the 2023 Founder's Day theme; "Without Holiness, You Cannot See God", the Cleric observed that the main route to seeing God and living a holy life is believing and accepting the finished works of Christ on the cross.

"When you are determined to see God, every material/money around you loses value, you must be willing to submit totally to the directions of God. Mama Odozi-Obodo gave all she had to please God, even though she was mocked and rejected, but her later life became better and rewarding." He said

Rev. Muo affirmed that Jesus' death on the cross was the foundation of a holy life for Christians because the death and resurrection of Christ were geared towards giving Christians the power to please God, which wouldn't have been possible without Christ.

In his words: " the purpose Jesus died is not just to forgive sins but to also give us power not to sin again. By the death of Jesus, believers are given victory over sin and death, which therefore means a holy life.

While describing the acts of the founders of the church, the priest encouraged members of the church to live exemplary life just as the leaders lived.

Concluding his sermon, Rev Muo noted that the foundation of Christ Holy Church International is vested in holiness. This according to him is the reason for the continuous growth of the church since 1947. All members must therefore focus on the cross for deeper revelation and fellowship with God.

The service also featured choral renditions, thanksgiving and testimony sessions, and high praise sessions.

In other news, the resident priest at the Christ Holy Church International, Abakpa Nike district, Rev. Emmanuel N. Okoye, while giving his founder's day sermon emphasized the need to have a good name, which is more precious than Gold.

He explained how the founders of the church had made a good name for themselves and how the name has taken their different families and the church at large to a high height. He, therefore urged the church to live a good life to make a good name for themselves, their families, and the church at large.

DELSU Professor Makes Case for Healthcare Infrastructure.

 Chidex Onyemah

Professor Omo-Aghoja of Delta State University, Abraka, has championed the strengthening of existing health infrastructure at several levels of medical service across the country as well as providing new healthcare facilities to ensure an acceptable level of maternal health.

The foremost professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology made this case while delivering his inaugural lecture at the 96th Inaugural Lecture Series of the university on Thursday, January 26, 2023.

In his lecture, he emphasized the need for the government at all tiers to initiate policies and programs to tackle the high level of poor maternal healthcare.

"It is estimated that about 10-20% of couples have difficulties in conceiving successfully... the prevalence of infertility is particularly high in sub-Saharan Africa, varying from 20-40% in some parts of West Africa where it constitutes a significant portion of the workload of the gynecologists, accounting for 80% of all consultations," he said.

Omo-Aghoja observed that male fertility had been poorly researched, especially in Africa where it is believed, erroneously though, that men do not have problems with infertility, hence women bear the blame and burden of infertility in marriages. He reiterated that male infertility is high, insisting that it amounts to over 50%, but the male supremacist disposition of Africa tends to consign this crucial fact to the sidelines.

Also Speaking, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andy Egwunyenga lauded the Inaugural Lecturer for his quality presentation adding that Professor Omo-Aghoja was one of the best scholars in the University. The Vice-Chancellor described the Inaugural Lecture as ‘’warm and robust’’.

While decorating the inaugural lecturer with the Distinguished University Honorary Medal, the VC urged him and other senior academics to take the mentorship of junior colleagues more seriously.

By Chidex Onyemah

The President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), His Eminence, Most Rev. (Dr) Daniel Okoh has dedicated the CAN secretariat in Makurdi, Benue State on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

Commissioning the secretariat, he described the event as historic, stating that the edifice shall remain a rallying point that enhances our movement towards Christian unity.

“The Church in Benue State has come to stay and it shall continue to break new grounds, the coalition of the forces of evil shall not be able to stop the move of God in this state.” he said.

Archbishop Okoh expressed concern over the killings of farmers, among Christians, in Benue State by insurgents, noting that he is equally aware of the “level of calamity and mindless bloodletting.” He said despite the security challenge the state government is grappling with, the coalition of forces of evil shall not succeed and take the people’s minds away from worshipping God.

His words: “Instead of tears, God will bring joy; instead of extermination, helplessness and devastation, God will bring restoration and abundance to people of the state. There will be an upsurge in faith and revival like never before in the state as this is the beginning of testimonies, and it shall never cease... Weeping may endure for a night, there shall be joy in the morning.

The CAN president commended Governor Samuel Ortom for making the project his priority despite other pressing needs and lean resources at his disposal, and implored Christians in the state to resist attempts to turn the edifice into a house of commotion due to political interests.

The Executive Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom, donated N50 million for the construction of a 30-room accommodation at the state secretariat of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

He also expressed gratitude to the president of CAN, Most Rev. Daniel Okoh for graciously honouring the state to dedicate the secretariat.

CAN President Charges Christians To Submit To The Leadership Of The Holy Spirit.

Chidex Onyemah

The President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), His Eminence, Most Reverend Dr. Daniel Okoh has charged Christians to submit their lives to the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

Dr. Okoh who is also the General Superintendent of Christ Holy Church (CHC) International while speaking at the 2023 Prayer Summit of the church said that it was important that Christians allow the Spirit of God to lead them, adding that the Holy Spirit not only enables one to conquer all trials and temptations, but helps one to be victorious.

The CAN President while lamenting that some Christians have abandoned the leading of God in their lives and allow the flesh to control them, said that the part of the reasons many people have not received the spirit of God was because they have not sincerely asked for the Holy Spirit of God to come and take control of their life.

The cleric who took his text from Romans Chapter 8 vs 13 and 14 warned against Christians who sell their conscience because of ‘hunger.’

Reminding the Christian faithful of the gains of a Spirit-filled individual, Okoh who is also the International President of the Organization of African Instituted Churches (OIAC) noted that when one receives the Holy Spirit of God, it helps to put to death the evil desires of the flesh and as well, forces the sinful nature and the sinful flesh to submit to the Holy Spirit.

Speaking on the fruits of the Holy Spirit the CAN President said “When you allow the Holy Spirit of God to lead you, it empowers you, it empowers and gives you the gift of the Holy Spirit and makes you useful member of the household of God so that you will be able to do the work of service; rebuilding the household of God.

“When you are led by the Holy Spirit of God, you are led to be patient, you are to persevere, you are led to ensure. You are led to have self-control.

“When you are led by the Holy Spirit of God, then you will begin to bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit as we find in Galatians chapter 5 vs 22. That is what the Holy Spirit of God leads you to achieve. Those fruits must be seen in you by the time you have subdued sinful desires. The Holy Spirit of God leads you to do what is right and to do the will of God.

“By the time you begin to tell the father, it is your will, not my will, you are now being led by the Holy Spirit of God.

“When you see food and you begin to choose food; the one that the Lord wants you to eat and the one He doesn’t want you to eat, you are at that point being led by the Holy Spirit of God. There are people today, who eat whatever that they see, they take whatever that they are given. They sell their conscience because they think that they are hungry. The one who is led by the Holy Spirit of God may be hungry, he wouldn’t eat anything or everything, but that one that God chooses.

“When you are led by the Holy Spirit of God, you let Him choose for you and He will lead you to where He wants you to be useful to Him. You will live your life according to the purpose of God.

“When you are a child of God, the Holy Spirit controls you and you will begin to live a Spirit-filled life and a life controlled by the Holy Spirit and not by the things of the world or the behavior of others.

“When you are led by the Holy Spirit of God, you will learn not to listen to gossip. You will learn not to listen to negative things that people say about you, but you listen to what the Holy Spirit tells you about you.

“When you are led by the Holy Spirit of God, you are empowered to witness to the power and love of Jesus. You will not be ashamed to witness; you will not lack testimonies with which you witness because you will continue to live a life of gratitude that will make you identify what God does for you every moment of your life which you will turn into testimonies.

“When you are led by the Holy Spirit of God, you will continue to grow and mature spiritually and when people will hear you speak even in your ordinary conversations with others, they will know that you have grown spiritually.

“When you receive the Holy Spirit and the gift of the Holy Spirit you will increase in wisdom; you will not remain at the level where you were in the past.”

The Secret Pains Of A Pastor.

Pastoring is a great and honourable call but with many secret pains at times.

Some of the pains come from Satan himself, some from wicked and unreasonable people while some regrettably come from members of the fold meant to love and celebrate their Shepherd.

To some, the Pastor is already a suspect of many things who must constantly prove that he/she isn't what they have concluded in their minds.

For instance, if a member of the Church testify of a new car or house, people will thank God for his faithfulness but if a Pastor gets a new car, the church account must be checked first incase he has stolen from there.

If a church member or even worldly people becomes successful in their career, people gather to declare "What God cannot do does not exist" but if a pastor grows and becomes successful, he is attacked and criticized.

When a Pastor is celebrated, he/she is accused of being worshipped but if people of social status in society are celebrated, we all join to clap for them.

The pastor gathers crowd? He must be using charm.

The pastor is not doing well? The genuineness of his call is queried?

The Pastor thanks God and express his blessings openly, he is showing off.

He doesn't do it? He is secretive and ungrateful.

There are several secret pains a Pastor goes through on the course of fulfilling his ministry but the beauty is that God recognizes divine call as an Honour (HEB.5:4).

Therefore, if you are a pastor and you encounter any of these pains, please don't feel bad, it's part of the job. It should rather remind you that you are in the right path.

Congratulations!

I celebrate all genuine Pastors today.

By Chidex Onyemah.

The Youth Fellowship, Christ Holy Church International has offered scholarship to two indigent youths to study Computer Hardware Engineering and Multimedia Technology at the NationBuilders College of Technology, Asaba (NABCOTECH) after multiple stage screening exercise.

The scholarship, which was officially presented to the beneficiaries Miss Obioha Ezinne Marycynthia and Master Ebele Ifeanyi Desmond at the Adadioranma Hall, NationBuilders College of Technology, Asaba, on Friday, November 4, 2022, shall cover the registration, tuition and accomodation fees of the beneficiaries for their two-year study programs.

Presenting the scholarship certificates, the International Chairman of the Youth Fellowship, Dr. Smatt Aguba revealed that the scholarship scheme was an initiative to empower the youths of Christ Holy Church International.

"This scheme is not basically for those with high O'level scores, but to those who are less privileged. The Youth Fellowship, through her Corporate Social Scheme, intends to give back to the Nation Builders Commonwealth, which shall be a bi-annual exercise. This shall continue, as the Fellowship plans on setting up Youth Fellowship Scholarship Trust Fund, to sponsor more youths of the church" he said.

Dr. Aguba charged the scholarship beneficiaries to be productive, innovative, well behaved and serious with their studies. He promised to often pay surprise visits to the College to monitor their academic and moral performances.

In his words: "As beneficiaries of the first edition of this scholarship scheme, you are automatically our brand ambassadors and as a result of this, you must make sure you make yourselves outstanding role models among your colleagues. We shall not hesitate to terminate this scholarship, if you are found involved in cultism, examination malpractice, sexual harrasment etc."

The Youth Chairman encouraged them to take advantage of this opportunity to rewrite their family stories. He urged them, not to let their family backgrounds, pull them down.

Also speaking, the Registrar, NationBuilders College of Technology, Asaba, Engr Stella Emecheta, commended the Youth Fellowship of Christ Holy Church International for providing the scholarship scheme to sponsor indigent youths.

IGP: Why we did not prosecute Tinubu for certificate forgery.

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has told a Federal High Court Abuja that the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Ahmed Tinubu, has no pending petition or criminal matters with the police anywhere in the country.

The IGP also clarified that Tinubu is not a suspect to the Nigerian Police.

The reasons why the police did not go after the APC Presidential candidate is contained in an affidavit filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja by a counsel, Wisdom Madaki.

In a counter affidavit to a suit instituted by a Civil Group seeking order of mandamus to compel the IGP to arrest and prosecute Tinubu for perjury and certificate forgery, the IGP maintained that the police have no power to prosecute Tinubu without any known offence committed.

The IGP however admitted having two different petitions from a Civil Group, Incorporated Trustees of Center for Reform and Public Advocacy requesting for arrest and prosecution of Tinubu for alleged perjury and certificate forgery related offences.

The IGP explained that the two petitions were predicated on allegations that had been adjudicated upon by the Supreme Court in 2002 in a suit filed by the late foremost human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi.

The affidavit averred that since the alleged perjury and certificate forgery had been resolved by the Supreme Court, there was no need for the police to reopen the matter.

Besides, the IGP said that police does not need any court order to make arrest and prosecute since it derives its powers from the Constitution and statutes.

The IGP is therefore asking the Federal High Court to dismiss the suit brought against him and the Nigeria Police Force for want of merit and jurisdiction adding that the plaintiff will not be prejudiced if the suit is dismissed.

At the day’s proceedings, counsel to the Civil group, Mister Eme Ekpu told Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo that the counter affidavit of police had just been served on him and he needs time to go through it and reply formally.

In a brief ruling, Justice Inyang Ekwo granted the request and fixed January 19, 2023 for hearing of the suit.

The Incorporated Trustees of Center for Reform and Public Advocacy had dragged the IGP before the Court over his alleged refusal to prosecute the presidential candidate of the APC over allegations bothering on perjury.
