Champion Lotus Leaf Able to Hold 176 Pounds

By holding 176 pounds, a huge lotus leaf has won the
championship of a lotus load competition held in Sanshui, Southern China’s Guangdong province on Sunday, according to Yangcheng Evening news.


The lotus, known as King Lotus in China, boasts the world’s biggest leaf. It stretches as long as two meters in diameter, and it has smooth surface and curly leaf margin.

The secret of this weight lifting champion lies in its big and strong veins, forming a net on back of the leaf to hold it steadily. In addition, the leaf has air chambers to make it float well on the water.
